Happy Father's Day

More than 20 million children live in a home with no physical presence of a father. Millions more live in a home with an emotionally absent father.

According to the US Census Bureau, 24 million children (1 out of 3) live in a home without their biological father. If it were classified as a disease, “fatherlessness” would be an epidemic and worthy of national emergency attention.

The importance of a father in a child’s life cannot be understated but we also understand some family situations are unique. For various reasons, the biological father is not always present and in these situations, a children can benefit from other adult role-models and father-figures; such as grandfathers, uncles, teachers, close family friends, coaches and clergy. Of course, these individuals are not their fathers – at least not in the biological sense – but they can provide support, encouragement and be the positive role model that a father should be. This will help nurture them and pave the way for them to grow up strong, healthy and successful.

We here at Green Livin’ Girls wish all the father’s, grandfather’s, uncles and other male role-models out there a very . . .
