Cold and flu solutions! Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar is one of our all time favorite weapons in our arsenal of cold and flu remedies! It’s that time of year again! We are getting ready for cold and flu season. Apple cider vinegar is your best friend at this time of year! Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar is pretty incredible stuff! We keep our refrigerator stocked with Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother). This should be a mainstay in every home that is attempting to try and live a greener life.
Apple cider vinegar helps prevent and cure colds, the flu, sore throats, chest congestion, sinus infections and much more. I am not in any way affiliated with Bragg’s. I just happen to really love the effectiveness of their product. ACV helps to alkalinize the body. By creating an alkaline environment it helps to kill viruses in the body. By keeping your PH levels balanced it can help prevent germs to begin with. ACV is an amazing product that can stop a cold in its tracks. I have started with a sore throat and a cough and started taking ACV and in a day my symptoms were completely gone and did not return!
You can start by taking it once a day as a preventative measure or you can take it at the first sign of illness and repeat several times a day until the symptoms subside. If I am taking it for preventative measures I only use one tablespoon per cup but if I am already feeling a little under the weather I will use two tablespoons of ACV per cup. For an extra boost mix the ACV with alkaline water!
You can add a tablespoon of ACV to a glass of water or to some juice or you can make a cup of tea with it. My favorite way to drink it is to add a table spoon of ACV to a cup of hot water and add a teaspoon of raw honey to sweeten it a little and take away some of the bitter taste.
I personally use ACV for both preventative measures and also when I have come down with a cold or sore throat unexpectedly. I also have many friends who have used it daily as a preventative for seasonal allergies.
You can also put a 1/4 a cup of ACV in your water vaporizer and diffuse overnight to help with allergies and congestion.
ACV is also good for a sore throat. If you put one tablespoon of ACV and one teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and stir it until it dissolves and then gargle with it up to several times a day, it will kill the germs in your throat. The germs can’t survive the acidic coating that if will form on your throat.
ACV is good for so many things we obviously cannot cover all of its amazing benefits in just one post. We wanted to give you some quick tips for the upcoming cold and flu season so that you can get a head start on preventing sickness this fall! We will continue with more wonderful uses of ACV in a future post. Stay tuned . . .
